Fashion industry ‘waking up’ to benefits of blockchain technology, robotics

Blockchain and robotics are becoming increasingly popular in the global fashion industry as brands look to increase transparency and improve efficiencies, according to GlobalData. While it is still in its infancy, blockchain technology has the potential to transform the global supply chain, says Michelle Russell, apparel correspondent at GlobalData. She says that during the last few years, the adoption of blockchain technology amongst apparel and textile companies has grown substantially as the pressure to have more visibility in the supply chain ramps up. “Its uses are varied as companies use the ledger to address problems in unethical behaviour, excess waste, the origin of goods, and counterfeiting.” German start-up Retraced recently launched a blockchain-based transparency solution that it is trialling with a number of fashion brands. Other examples include OpenSC which received US$4 million in seed funding for its platform that aims to build transparency around commodities know...

Blockchain is one technology which is said to be bringing in a revolution on par with the birth of the internet. What started as a decentralising currency and assets is now disrupting every mainstream industry. Whether its fintech, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, insurance, digital security, enterprise SaaS — blockchain is everywhere today. As per a  survey on  the financial services sector and fintech conducted by  PWC , around 77% of the financial services industry plan on adopting blockchain by 2020. Banks constituting a third of the institutions surveyed have shown an inclination in incorporating blockchain in their operations as was reported by a study published by Accenture and McLagan (January 2017) So, the first question for the novice here is: What Is Block...

UTILISATION OF IOT AND COMPUTER VISION IN PUBLIC SECTOR

The Internet of Things (IoT) has turned into a guide of digital transformation for some companies across industries. The disruptive innovation enables organizations to remain associated with their users to give a definitive customer experience. For instance, in view of the insights it can uncover, companies can come up with one of a kind, creative approaches to appreciate and impact customer movement including behavior and purchasing patterns. With that, they can change the way buyers’ access data while furnishing organizations with significant information which can help increase financial advantages. Utilizing IoT for activities, for example, predictive maintenance and resource management alone has the potential monetary impact of $4 trillion to $11 trillion by 2025. Out of the 8.4 billion devices everywhere throughout the world, just 1% are connected. Every year, the government loses 99% of the opportunity to be progressively productive, improve public security, diminish operation...

AI solutions package released for identifying and triaging stroke

Aidoc , a provider of AI solutions to radiologists, has released its complete AI package for the identification and triage of stroke in CT scans. The CE-marked solution flags and prioritises vascular occlusions which result in both ischemic and haemorrhagic strokes. The stroke package, comprising the new CE-marked Large-Vessel Occlusion AI module and Aidoc’s already FDA-cleared and CE-marked intracranial hemorrhage AI module reduces “door-to-needle” time for patients suffering from stroke. Dr. Eyal Morag, medical director of Aidoc, said: “When creating an AI solution for stroke, it’s all about providing solutions where time matters most. Aidoc augments the radiologist’s workflow with life-saving technology, assuring medical providers that there are no delays in treatment for patients suffering from a stroke – be it haemorrhagic or ischemic.” Aidoc’s complete stroke package ensures that both ischemic and haemorrhagic stroke sufferers are prioritised in worklists immediately. The...

Man-made brainpower can add to a more secure world

We as a whole observe the features consistently. An automaton disturbing the airspace in one of the world's busiest air terminals, putting flying machine in danger (and burdening countless travelers) or assaults on basic framework. Or then again a shooting in a position of love, a school, a town hall. Regardless of whether crude (explosive) or bleeding edge (unmanned airborne vehicles) in an inappropriate hands, innovation can enable awful on-screen characters and put our general public in danger, making a feeling of defenselessness and dissatisfaction. Current ways to deal with securing our open scenes are not capable, and, honestly seem to meet Einstein's meaning of craziness: "doing likewise again and again and anticipating an alternate outcome." It is a great opportunity to look past conventional protection advancements and check whether more up to date methodologies can tilt the pendulum back in the protector's support. Man-made reasoning (AI) can assume a ...

Electronic Payment Fraud Prevention Best Practices

As online and electronic modes of payment increase in their prevalence, it is a lot easier to transact with money matters than it was a few years ago. One doesn’t need to visit a bank or any other financial institution to make these. One can do so from the comfort of one’s own location. But wait a minute. While these improvements in technology have made our tasks easier, they also come with an inevitable side effect: the potential for fraud. Vulnerability is a byproduct of technology. It is almost inseparable from the benefits that technology brings. Not only individuals around the world, but even organizations are at the receiving end of various smart frauds that dot the electronic payment landscape. Ironical as it may sound, companies don’t have the same levels and layers of protection from electronic payment fraud as individuals. They have less than 24 hours to report the fraud, failing which their chances of recovering their lost money reduce dramatically. So, what is the way ...
